Daily Itinerary

Day 1 (Saturday, 16 Nov 2019) 

Airport pick up, Frangipani Living Arts Hotel check-in, Champey Academy of Arts is a social enterprise supporting Cambodian youth – watch dance performance then participate in traditional Cambodian dances

Day 2 (Sunday, 17 Nov 2019)

Morning, visit the Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre, whose primary function is to save, rehabilitate and breed endangered, indigenous wildlife. Meet rescued and confiscated Asian black bears, Sun bears and Sloth bears, and we will get to learn about their biology, conservation status, and the names and unique behaviours of each rescued and orphaned bear. You will also get a chance to their food, and watch them gobble it up! Afternoon, visit Temple Tonle Bati – about 30 km south of Phnom Penh – built in the 1200’s in the Bayon style. 

Day 3 ( Monday, 18 Nov 2019)

Morning, it will be time to learn about the sadder side of Cambodian history.  You will  visit Choeung Ek Museum, commonly known as the killing fields. Lunch at Jars of Clay, a local social enterprise. Afternoon, visit Tuol Sleng Museum (S21) a former secondary school that was used as a prison during Pol Pot’s regime.

Days 4-6 (Tuesday- Thursday, 19-21 Nov 2019)

We will spend the next three days working with ongoing projects at the Indochina Starfish Foundation (ISF). This includes playground games, reading in English and teaching basic IT skills to the students at the ISF school.

On the afternoon of Day 5 we will visit The Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC), a special Cambodian court which receives international assistance through the United Nations Assistance to the Khmer Rouge Trials (UNAKRT). The court is also informally known as the Khmer Rouge Tribunal or the Cambodia Tribunal. Time after dinner to check out the Russian Markets.

On the evening of Day 6 we will culminate three meaningful days of engagement with a sunset Cruise on the Mekong River.

Day 7 (Friday, 22 Nov 2019)
After checking out of accommodation, it is time to cross the Mekong River to Coconut school where we will learn about their materials recycling programme/initiative. More details about this to come…

After lunch, it is time for some last minute souvenir shopping at the Central Market before returning to HK in the evening.
