Case Method Virtual Experience Days:

September 14, 16:00 JST, GMT+9

Come and join us for our next case method demonstration lesson on September 14 from 16:00 PM JST hosted by Dr. Anthony Townley. In this demo lesson, we will examine the future regulation of the increasingly lucrative cosplay industry in Japan under copyright law.

Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) are the exclusive rights given to the creators of original works and inventions. Common types of IPRs are copyrights, patents, trademarks, industrial deigns, trade secrets, layout designs for integrated circuits and even ideas. The primary objective of IPRs is to incentivize and reward creators, through the provision of property rights to create new works and to make those works available to the public.

Dr. Anthony Townley completed his doctorate in linguistics at Macquarie University (Sydney, Australia). Anthony has worked as a commercial lawyer in Sydney and as an academic in a variety of teaching and administrative roles for over 20 years.
