Introduction of newly launched BFA in Acting for Global Screen from Academy of Film, HKBU

The Only BFA programme in Acting for Global Screen in Hong Kong
This is a warm greeting from Academy of Film, Hong Kong Baptist University.
Our Academy practices profound education in cultivating talents for local and international film and media industries since 1970. We are now excited to announce our newly launched international programme – Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) in Acting for Global Screen, which will be offered in September 2021 (Direct entry, four years full terms). There will be 16 admission quotas for JUPAS and Non-JUPAS applicants.
This new BFA programme is the only undergraduate programme among all the UGC institutions to offer a major Honours Degree in Acting. Its education combines acting training for screen, media and stage and with the latest technologies. Most of the major cores and elective courses carry global and cross-cultural perspectives and critical studies on contemporary cultural reflection and body issues. With the substantial support and networking established in our Academy of Film, students could gain professional experience in local or international theatres, production companies, films & television companies, and entertainment organisations through acting internship, exchange programmes and summer workshops.
Here we would like to introduce our promotional video of the BFA in Acting for Global Screen. You may hear Prof Eva Man (Director of Academy of Film), Prof Michael Bray (Programme Director of AGS) and our current students talk about this programme.
For full version, please visit: http://af.hkbu.edu.hk/en/bfa-introduction
With its unique curriculum design, we are currently searching talents in acting from both local and international student applicants to start the 2021 entry and afterward. Scholarships will be provided to the selected applicants demonstrating excellent performance as a whole in the admission exercise including HKBU Admission scholarship, School of Communication Admission Scholarship, Mr. Chan Chee Kheong Memorial Scholarship and scholarships for Ethnic Minority students.
Portfolio Submission has already started, and we plan to organize two rounds of admission Auditions/Interviews in June and July (specific time arrangement to be announced later).
In view of the unprecedented situation caused by the novel coronavirus, HKBU currently continues to accept applications of those applicants holding international qualifications for September 2021 entry until 31 May 2021.
We know that your school has students that are interested in acting and we would therefore recommend this new programme to you without hesitation. Please spread the word to your students who possess passion and imagination in acting and performing and who should be interested in applying. For Non-JUPAS applicants, application can be made through online system: https://iss.hkbu.edu.hk/amsappl_nj/.
For your kind dissemination, we have here attached a leaflet and a brief presentation of our Academy and our AGS programme. I would love to visit your school to deliver a briefing about our Film Academy and the new BFA programme whenever the arrangement is feasible to you. And I will answer questions regarding our programme and the Academy.
Please feel free to reach us by email (bfag@hkbu.edu.hk) or contact by phone (For Joanna Sun at 3411 8138). For more information, please visit our website (http://af.hkbu.edu.hk/en/prog-bfa/).
Thank you for your time and support in disseminating information on this new and exciting programme to your students. And I wish you a peaceful and bright summer!

Online Course for Medicine

This coming Saturday, the 1st May, from 12pm-4pm BST there’s a unique course for all students with an interest in medical careers.
The Post Mortem is an interactive recreated Post-Mortem course where students join our anatomist as we try to establish the cause of death of an individual using a semi-synthetic cadaver.
We’ll explain all the medical techniques and tests used to establish cause of death and then students join our live session at 2pm BST where we will cover everything they have just seen in more detail and ask any questions students may have about anatomy or applying to medical school.
The whole day is designed to provide some great online work experience that all students can use in their applications and interviews to healthcare careers and is suitable to all students from 14-19 with an interest in biology or medical careers.
To take part, students just need to visit here and we also have bursary places available too.
Students will receive a personalised certificate for this unique interactive course and it’s also available to watch anytime afterwards for 30 days, whenever suits them best should they not be able to make it on the day.
