Clearing & Adjustment at King’s

Important information and resources for your students

We hope you and your loved ones are keeping safe and well during this challenging time.

With IB results released on 6 July and A levels coming through next month, we want to give you the most up-to-date information from King’s on our September start and the Adjustment, Clearing and Conformation process.

September start

At King’s, planning is advancing at a great pace for the start of the new academic year.

  • King’s is open. We know some students may not be able to join us in London straight away. We want to assure students if this is the case, they will be able to access our high-quality education and support remotely until such time as they are able to be here with us in person.
  • We are combining in-person and online teaching. We are ready to welcome students in September. We plan to combine as much small group, face-to-face teaching as we safely can with high quality online formats for teaching and learning. Access to our campuses will always be governed by safe distancing guidelines. We will closely regulate the number of students and staff who are able to be on campus safely at any one time.
  • The student experience will still go beyond the classroom. Many of our services and facilities will still be available to students including the Library, Careers, welfare services, study spaces and the Students’ Union. Many of these services will have digital alternatives, however those that provide on-campus services and may operate differently to ensure the safety of students and everybody around them.

Clearing and Adjustment

Students who have already received their results can apply through Clearing now for courses listed on UCAS. We will be regularly updating our course availability on our Clearing and Adjustment Hub in the lead up to A Level Results Day on Thursday 13 August.

Adjustment is available if your students meet and exceed the terms of their offer. This allows them to search for course vacancies, whilst continuing to hold their offer. Adjustment will only be available from Thursday 13 August.

Due to the busy period leading up to A-level results day and the UCAS embargo, we will be unable to communicate with students between Friday 7 August and 8am Thursday 13 August, on the status of their application, including scholarship applications and accommodation offers (where applicable).

Please note: the Admissions office number will not be in use on Thursday 13 August. Anyone calling on this date must use the Clearing & Adjustment hotline number: +44 (0)20 3858 1050.

King’s Offer Holders

If your students have King’s as their firm choice and they have met the conditions of their offer, their place will be confirmed in UCAS Track.

If their offer is currently on hold, we are still hoping to be able to confirm their place with us in August. As they have not quite met their conditions, they will now have to wait until we have all the results for our applicants, which will be in mid-August. This allows us to see how many students have met their conditions and if we still have places available. The good news is that they have not been rejected at the moment, but they will have to wait a little longer for confirmation.

If they have not yet provided all evidence, please inform your students to send this through their King’s Apply account as soon as it is available. If your students have any queries, please ask them to send a message through the King’s Apply Portal.

High-achieving students

Students who have achieved A*A*A at A-level or 35 points overall with three HL subjects at 776 in the IB will be eligible for our Superstar offer. This year we will be making places available on most of our courses* for students who have achieved Superstar grades and are interested in studying at King’s.

Further information about which courses will be accepting Superstar students will be made available closer to Thursday 13 August on our Clearing and Adjustment Hub.

*Please note: this excludes some courses including Medicine, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Nutrition, Nutrition and Dietetics, and all courses offered by the King’s Business School.

On A-Level results day

If any of your students wish to call us regarding course availability and their options for Clearing, Adjustment or Superstar offers, our hotline will be open on Thursday 13 August from 8am-8pm (BST), where experienced King’s staff will be on hand to answer all of their questions.

King’s Clearing and Adjustment hotline

The Clearing and Adjustment hotline number is:

+44 (0)20 3858 1050

The usual Admissions number +44 (0)207 848 7000 will not be in use on Thursday 13 August but will be available before and after this date. Students calling on Thursday 13 August must use the hotline number shown above.

Please encourage your students to have the following to hand when calling:

  • Their UCAS Personal ID (if they applied to UCAS this year)
  • Details of the subjects they have studied, their qualifications and grades.

We expect our hotline will be very busy but please do reassure students that we will answer their calls as soon as possible. Please note, offers will be made on a first come first served basis.

If you or your students have any questions regarding this, please look at our Clearing and Adjustment Hub which clearly outlines the next steps.

Finally, we wish you and your students the very best wishes in this important final stage.

Best wishes,
