University of Glasgow – Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences International Summer School

Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences International Summer School
Are you considering your subjects for the IB Diploma? Are you interested in studying Medicine, Veterinary Medicine or Life Sciences at a World Top 100 University?
The University of Glasgow are launching a unique Pre-University International Summer School, hosted by the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences in 2020. Our credit-bearing International Summer School program enables high school students to choose from three distinct pathways to prepare for a career as a Doctor, Veterinarian or Scientist.
Our Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences tracks provide the opportunity to gain a conditional offer to the University of Glasgow upon completion of the summer school. Furthermore, the students will experience what it is like to study at an international university and engage with staff who can help guide and inform them about their chosen subject as well as career paths and key opportunities.
The IB is a qualification that is highly regarded and recognised as undergraduate admissions criterion to our degree programs. This means that IB students are eligible, and are qualified, to apply for direct access to Veterinary Medicine, Medicine or many of our disciplines in Life Sciences without the need to do (or complete) an undergraduate degree first. Due to the nature of the Scottish degree system, professionally accredited subjects like Medicine and Veterinary Medicine are undergraduate courses and are 5 years in duration. Upon graduation students are qualified to practice in their respective field. Interestingly, for those students studying Veterinary Medicine, their qualification from the University of Glasgow is dual accredited meaning they are qualified to practice in the UK and the USA.
Our applications open on the 1st of November 2019
Register your interest now: CLICK HERE
The Pre-University International Summer School invites applications from those students who are on track to graduate in the summer 2021 from high school, beginning their University career in the fall of 2021.
Successful applicants will spend Summer 2020 at the University of Glasgow returning to their school with a conditional offer to begin their studies in the fall of 2021 at the University of Glasgow, if they so choose, in either Veterinary Medicine or Life Sciences. Those students who wish to pursue the Medical track will receive 10 university credits and are encouraged to use their Glasgow experience as a key element in their application to medical school.
The Undergraduate School of Medicine at the University of Glasgow is ranked 3rd in the UK* and is one of the country’s largest Medical Schools. Our innovative and forward-thinking curriculum is delivered through a range of teaching styles which include small group teaching, problem-based learning, lectures, vocational and clinical studies, labs and e-learning. Our students gain experience of a clinical environment from year 1.
*Complete University Guide 2020
With over 150 years of veterinary excellence and ranked 1st in the UK*, the School of Veterinary Medicine is preeminent in teaching, research and clinical provision, and attracts students, researchers and clinicians from around the world. Our research places us amongst the world leaders in global animal health and we are one of only six Veterinary Schools in Europe to have achieved accredited status for our undergraduate programmes from the American Veterinary Medical Association.
*Complete University Guide 2020
The University of Glasgow recognize and value the IB as a qualification. We are seeking to raise awareness of opportunities that enable students to engage in their careers and embark on their professional work after the completion of their undergraduate studies.

Dear Y11 students (copied to Y11 parents)
As you are already aware, Y11 students have a choice between several options for Y12 & 13. One of these options is to study the Career-related Programme (CP) to combine an academic aspect (2 to 4 Diploma subjects) and a more vocational aspect (via one of our partner-providers).
DC is offering 4 options for our current Y11 cohort. Interested students are invited to attend a sample lesson with one (or several) of our partner schools.

The University of Buckingham
Posted by heo
Buckingham is the UK’s leading University for Teaching Quality according to the annual Times/Sunday Times rankings – we are consistently ranked 1st in the UK and have a TEF Gold rating. We are also top 5 for staff/student ratios and student experience. We are a non-profit University with a Royal Charter from Queen Elizabeth II. We have welcomed international students for over 40 years with 100+ countries represented on campus in 2019.
· Buckingham’s two year honours degrees allow students to experience high quality UK University education at a lower cost and with more study focus. Students can complete their Masters in 3 years or a 1+2 foundation+ bachelors’ degree in 3 years.
· Buckingham enrols students in January and September. Both intakes are still accepting applications direct or via UCAS. The January intake is particularly popular with students and their parents/advisers if they have not secured a place in the UK in September or have been unhappy elsewhere and wish to get their studies back on track. They can start with us in January and graduate before their peers two years later.
· Buckingham is amongst the UK Universities with the lowest crime in the UK (according to the Complete University Guide annual rankings on this issue)
· The campus is beautiful and unique, just 60 minutes from central London but in a classic English town setting, halfway between Oxford and Cambridge. We have an accommodation guarantee scheme in place for September and January entry.
· The University of Buckingham’s Medical School admits students in January each year, including high school graduates. We do not require UKCAT/BMAT and do not have a cap on International student numbers, unlike other UK Universities. We also still accept applications all year round, after the traditional UCAS October UK deadline.
