Topic: Psychology Taster Lecture
Warwick is a very popular with DC students, and is highly ranked in all subjects.
The University of Warwick is a public research university on the outskirts of Coventry, England. It was founded in 1965 as part of a government initiative to expand higher education.
Dr Hester Duffy, Teaching Fellow, Admission Tutor, and Senior Tutor of the Warwick Department of Psychology will be in Hong Kong next month. She is planning to visit a few schools and give a taster lecture to students. An Introduction to Developmental Psychology.
Synopsis: Developmental psychology is the psychology of change. As developmental psychologists, we study the human experience from before birth all the way through to old age, with a particular focus on the first few years of life. As babies, we are totally reliant on other people for all our needs, and we have only a very limited range of abilities; we can sleep, eat, and cry! Within a few years, we are fluent users of language, with many complex social relationships, a good (if not perfect) understanding of the world around us, and individual personalities. Exploring this period of rapid growth gives us insights not only into children’s experiences, but into how we become the remarkable and unique people we are today.
