Time: 19:00 – 20:00

Venue: Renaissance College (Ma On Shan)

Are you interested in accessing English speaking medical school options which aren’t dependant on sky-high grades and sky-high tuition fees?

The 5 medical universities in the Czech Republic offer English speaking students have dedicated separate classes; they have students from Japan, Korea, India, the UK, Germany, HK studying there; the fees (!).

The best part is that all 5 medical universities will fly down in May (a week after the IB exams are done) and administer their own tests and interviews. They are not looking at A levels, HKDSA, IB, AP grades at all – two of my students sat their tests in May 2018 and passed with flying colours. Results of admission come out on the same day as the interviews so no anxious waiting time!

Medical Doorways (who help to facilitate the test-taking and interviews) will be coming to Renaissance for a parents/students/counsellors evening on Wednesday, 23 January at 7pm in our Main Hall. Here they will explain the application process; the internship; the pathways after graduation…basically answer any questions that you have.

Charles Stuart School of Animal and Veterinary Science also teaches in English and is a great alternative/addition to where our students currently apply to.

Rough Cost Comparison Fees for international students:
Czech Republic – HK$98,000 – HK$125,000 annually

UK – HK$150,000 – HK$380,000 annually. Cambridge University has been the first to announce that its new fee structure for students studying Medicine in October 2019 will be an eye-watering £52,638 annually and this is expected to rise in 2020 as the UK government is expected to require international students at publicly funded medical schools to pay the full cost of their clinical placements (which are undertaken during Years 4-6 of our course).

Australia – Tuition fees of between HK$250,000 – HK$460,000 annually
