Every summer, HKU SPACE Summer School offers a number of exciting courses for teenagers to experience the taste of university learning, make new friends, and stretch their minds.

You can choose to study from a wide range of subjects, including architecture, design, language, aviation, popular music and 3D printing, under the series of “Creativity and Fun”, “Languages” and “Becoming a Professional” . Learning is not just in the classroom. If you want to immerse yourself in a new cultural environment, you can take part in the Study Tour at Edinburgh, UK, where you will get a deeper understanding of the historical and cultural heritage of the city through field trips and interaction with the locals.

The courses bring together dynamic learning experience and stimulating ideas to help you better understand yourself and explore your interest.

Becoming an Architect

If you are wondering what architecture is all about and would like a glimpse into the learning of architecture, this course is for you! You will learn about local universities’ architecture programmes, the process to becoming a registered architect in Hong Kong and the skills required to design and present your project graphically and verbally.

Decoding Buildings

Becoming an Aircraft Pilot 

This course is designed to teach students, who have passion in flying and the aviation industry, the basic knowledge of general aviation and skills of aircraft control.  Students will be taught from a beginner’s perspective the theory of flight, the aviation terminology and the occupational competence requirements of a commercial aircraft pilot.  The course would put theory into practice through practical exercise with professional flight simulation equipment.

Becoming a Pharmacist

Re-Imagining Waterfronts

Waterfronts in major cities are a place of human activities, allowing the public to enjoy the edge between land and sea.  In Hong Kong, too often water frontage designs take a backseat to the economic need for reclamation, freeway expansion, transport stations, and private property development.  In this course, students will learn about the positive contribution of a well-conceived waterfront to the living hood of the cities’ dwellers through case studies, research on the historical development of waterfronts, site visits, and take an active role in the re-imaging of our waterfronts through discourse and design project.

Sketching Hong Kong Architecture
