Sunshine Action Club Christmas Food Packaging event

Posted by Peter MUIR

The DC Sunshine Action Club was created by students Adrian Yan (Y12) and Apple Kwok (Y12) at the start of this academic year. This club is affiliated with the Sunshine Action Charity organisation and works closely with its owner, Sunny Mak. Due to its small number of staff, Sunshine Action relies on volunteers to help out to ensure every event can lead to change. The goal of Sunshine Action Club is to give back to the community by advocating and cooperating with the organization.

DC’s Sunshine Action Club is made up of students ranging from Y9 to Y12 and are especially invested in addressing issues that concern their local communities today. Over the past several months, students have been involved in major events organized by Sunshine Action, from distributing lunch boxes to the homeless, to creating over 3000 food packages and providing first hand aid to the elderly. A participant from Y12 said “It was an eyeopening experience that allowed me to realise just how fortunate we are compared to those who utterly have close to nothing.”

TheDC Sunshine Action Club is organising a major event – Christmas Food Packaging on 9th December, and is requesting volunteers to join. More details regarding the event will be posted at a later date. Meanwhile for more details about the club, please email Adrian at 17yana1@dc.edu.hk or Apple at kwoka3@dc.edu.hk.
