Climate Change week in the UK

With the annual climate change week in Britain – it’s biggest climate change campaign – coming soon, it would be timely to consider the different perspectives about whether or not climate change is caused by human action.  On one side, those who indicate that changes in our global climate is the result of humans – our daily behaviour and consumption patterns resulting in long-term changes in the atmosphere.  On the other side, those who question the evidence of the human causes of climate change.

In such a case it is important to consider what these opinions are based on, why people may develop such opinions, and what they may be influenced by in developing their perspective.  This chart was produced by James Powell, who searched though peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals over the period from Nov. 12, 2012 through December 31, 2013. He found 2,258 articles on the issue of climate change, written by a total of 9,136 authors. Only one article, by a single author in the Herald of the Russian Academy of Sciences, rejected man-made global warming.  Does this give conclusive evidence of the support of human-made climate change – I’ll let you decide.

The World Day of Social Justice, held February 20th,  aims to contribute to the efforts of the international community in poverty eradication, promotion of full employment and decent work, gender equity and justice for all.  In what ways could you celebrate this day, and take action towards making social justice a reality, as a part of your C&S or CAS efforts?
