Topic: Imagination: The Theatre of your Mind

Imagination – Stop reading at the end of the next sentence, close your eyes, and follow its instruction for at least 30 seconds:
Imagine an elephant.
What just happened? You probably created a picture in your mind, which might have been true-to-life, or a cartoon. It may be full of colour, rich in detail, or mobile and interactive. Or maybe it was completely absent, an experience we have termed

Dr Crawford Winlove leads the Imagination Neuroscience Group at the University of Exeter Medical School, where he is also Director of the Neuroscience Programme. He is a passionate about science communication, and aims to help young people find their ideal career. He speaks regularly on admissions and careers at events hosted by UCAS, the Medical Schools Council, and the Russell Group.
