U20 Girls Touch Rugby

Scores: 6 wins from 6 games

The team started slowly against KGV but soon found running the ball wide was a good option. In the second fixture against AISHK, the girls were put to task and found themselves behind early as the Australians ran fast at our defensive line. Once the team started driving and dragging, which is our approach to play, we gained ground and scored a few times to win this match. Against ICHK the team consolidated their style of play with good, fast 3-up play followed by drags or bows (very technical Touch language) which made the team look like Touch players. Against CDNIS the team found their defence and quick substitution work difficult to defend but this was probably the best game for the team as they were challenged the whole time. Games against RCHK and YMCA were good opportunities for the girls to gel more as a team and put all of the skills they had been applying throughout the morning into action. A great day out with the team bringing back the ISSFHK banner, the second for this team this year having already won the HKSSF Inter-Schools Touch Competition earlier in the year.

Score: 10-5 (L) v ICS

The first fixture of the season for the boys was a really tough one to start off with. In heavy rain we played a very skilful and aggressive ICS team. It was a very difficult day for goalkeepers given the conditions (hence the 15 goals scored) and the DC boys kept up well with their counterparts until after half-time when ICS pulled away from us with some good finishing. The boys can hold their heads high for a good effort and look forward to putting things right in the next fixture.

Score: 2-2 (D) vs ICS

The U12 Girls had their first game of the season against ICS. It ended up being a tough game on a very wet day, on a very muddy (coconut husk) pitch that had no bounce and we also had no substitutes. The girls did very well fighting back from an unfortunate 2-0 deficit early in the game to draw 2-2 with goals from Anna and Rosie. Plenty of chances were created and unfortunately not as many were taken as we hoped for, but the effort the girls put in for 50 mins was extremely pleasing. It looks like we will be very competitive in the season and everyone is looking forward to the next game.

A tough game against a much older team. We showed spirit as they made it very difficult for us. Two great points involving some great effort from Oscar Rees.

Lots of positives from the game but still learning the ropes. A good effort by both teams.

It was a big day for DC. The U12 boys played the finals at DC. They first played against CDNIS where DC won 3 game winning 2 singles and 1 doubles. These games were just a warm-up of what was to come. Since they had won against CDNIS, they either had a chance of getting a gold medal or a silver medal. In the last round, the U12 boys played against Harrow who are known to be a very strong team. Harrow won the first singles match but DC won 1 singles and 1 doubles game. They lost the next game. It came down to the very last game which was very intense. The DC parents were cheering on our final player. After 21 well-earned points, the DC U12 team won the finals. The U12’s were very excited by the win as it was the first time in 5 years.
