Scores: 5-1 (W) v Harrow A

DC girls adapted well to the unusual bounce on pitch 9 at Happy Valley. They worked well as a team and were first to the ball more often than not. Each player had the same amount of game time and it was encouraging to see all players looking more comfortable, marking their players and pressuring the opposition on the ball. Roxanne made some excellent saves which certainly helped our final scoreline. It was another hard game in the heat and everyone contributed to and deserved this good result. Let’s keep up this momentum and intelligent play into the play-offs. Well done.

Scores: 8-1 (W) HKA

This was fixture number 5 of the season and the boys carried on their good form from their previous game against Harrow C with another resounding victory. There were some absentees from the squad which meant we only had 7 players and therefore no substitutes. It was a close affair early on with decent chances for both teams, but DC broke the deadlock through an excellent corner from Seth Peramunetilleke finding Ralphy Dray at the back post to put DC 1 nil up. A few minutes later the same combination from another corner made it 2 nil to DC. We could have had more before half-time but it was HKA that scored the next goal. A shot inside the box from HKA was handled and the referee awarded a penalty. The penalty was saved magnificently by Rohan Lassiaz but the rebound was steered into the goal by HKA. 2-1 at half-time was the score.

In the second half, the boys started passing the ball around really well. This coupled with some excellent dribbling ensured that we scored 6 unanswered goals to run out big winners, with Seth (imitating Lionel Messi to score goal of the day), Oliver Luk, Axel Dimblad and Ralphy all finding the net. The defence and goal keeper also played a massive part in ensuring that HKA did not get back into the game. On we march into the final fixture of the league season next week, hoping to book ourselves a spot in the playoffs. Go Cobras.
